The Department of Biochemistry is one of the dynamic research intensive departments of Rev. Jacob Memorial Christian College. The Department was founded in 1997 from the inception of the institution. Our teaching mission includes instruction in biochemistry for undergraduate and Post graduate students; and enable them to understand the processes of life at the biochemical, genetic and cellular level. We provide knowledge regarding the mechanisms that drive cellular systems. The highlights of the department are creating the research environments to students and faculty members along with our teaching practice propelling the students to get placed in national and international academic centers, research labs and diagnostic labs.

PG lab is equipped with Western Blotting apparatus, Labman UV Spectrometer, SPAN Cooling Centrifuge, Electrophoretic apparatus with power packs, Binocular Microscope, incubator, molecular biology kits, immuno assay kits and Distilled water plant. It is well equipped lab for experimental research works. Research works on Experimental neurosciece, Nanoparticles and Phytochemicals are going on presently.

UG lab is equipped with facilities for basic analytical chemistry and biochemical analysis. Items of equipment such as Systronics Spectrometer, Chromatography apparatus, Colorimeters, vortex apparatus, Distilled water plant, Light Microscopes, Laminar Chamber, incubator, water quality analysing kits, other needful chemicals and instruments required for all the practical sessions for the students are available.
